I decided to pull 5% with hopes to cut back at 70 when we take SS. I retired at 60 three years ago and live with the belief that we should travel while we can, love life and cut back a bit later. Just my 2cents worth

Not at my last job, but I have when I was a younger Engineer in the field and life was much more simple and straight forward and certainly fun. Add HR, lawyers, EEOC, more forms and goal seeking synergetic numskulls and the job becomes a nightmare fast!

I was turning 60, just paid off our home and the job was becoming very stressful with a huge project coming up. My boss was becoming weirder each day, over looked me on a promotion to lead the project so decided it was time. I guess the bottom line was my boss was becoming a narcistist and...
Seems the national news comes from one source and it is slanted and political. I don't trust the national media to tell us the truth.

Ditto here! Go out and have fun shooting. Forget the rang. Have a friend or relative who owns and shoots fire arms take you out in the country, at the farm or where ever and set up a variety of targets at different ranges and have some fun!

I agree. I supervised a number of individuals and the most challenging were the crazy managers who thought their mission was to control their employees every move. Even when I reduced their salary increases and lectured them about their over bearing supervisory position, it just didn't help...
I found my beer expense went up 100 percent! however, I can cut back on carbs to compensate for the increased expense. It is nice to crack open a beer on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate ER! :)

As an optimist I simply choose a 5% WD rate and purposely ignore the doom and gloom reports. If it doesn't work out well, then I'll adjust our spending and WD rate. Otherwise.........ain't going to worry about it!
