    Asleep At the Wheel

After sniffing around, I guess I am not yet ready to abandon my 60/40 allocation. But I will be monitoring more carefully. I did set up a bond ladder to offset some of my bond funds, but overall, I am not sure I am ready to bail yet.

    Asleep At the Wheel

I retired in 2014 with a pretty standard asset allocation of around 60% stocks/40% bonds. This worked fine until recently. I thought I would just wait it out, so I still was not paying much attention. But today I did a check of the Prime Rate and was surprised to see it up to 7.50%. I guess...

    Golf Talk Tuesdays - 2021

Got to practice my walking scorer skills (ha!) with Jordan Speith and Dustin Johnson at the PGA practice rounds. They were very loose and having fun. Jordan provided a ton of autographs, although the requests were endless

    Very bullish forecast

I think it depends if they can keep inflation low and therefore interest rates low. It was my experience that high interest rates kill the stock market.

    Spousal SS, yet another question.

Good luck with that. Make sure to clear a big block of time to get someone to answer.

Best Places to Retire in Each State

I've never understood the connection with retirement and relocation. We have been retired for several years and live in the same city we were working in, pre-retirement. its where we have friends, things to do, church etc.

Who owns both Wellesley and Wellington?

I've got them both, but I didn't want to tie up too much in them so I have diversified into a Vanguard stock fund to keep my allocation percentage on target.

What is Going to Happen With Sports?

I really hope that college football will happen. However I must say that if only the SEC and the Big 12 play, then Oklahoma may have a better chance of winning the National Championship. [MOD EDIT]

WHO urges public avoid routine dental

I think this shows the Value of WHO, basically zero. If you have dental problems you need to get then attended to. Do not postpone your dental issues, or you will suffer the consequences.

Do You Sit At Your Kitchen Island?

We have a Galley kitchen with no island. If we had one I would defintely love to sit there. Good on you if you do have one and sit there. I will say we (my wife and I) do sit in front of the television for many meals. Not sure how this would work for an island.

Your Predictions for the post Covid-19 Economy?

I think things will return to normal, post Covid, as things did post Spanish Flu, fairly quickly. No disease, no worries. However, with this Covid outbreak, we have shut down our economy to a much higher degree than during the Spanish Flu. Not sure about the long term effects of that...

Retiring Early in This 2020 Market

I am basing my reply on the fact you said you have a job you mostly enjoy. Based on that, I would say give it another year. To my mind, things should be much clearer next year at this time concerning longer term virus/economic effects. If you are enjoying your job, then be glad you have it...

    COVID-19 Shutdown Exit Strategy?

Just reporting in that things are going pretty well as Oklahoma is opening back up. We are finishing Phase 1, with restaurants and similar opening up the last couple of weeks. We start Phase 2 this Friday with bars and similar opening up. So far, new cases continue to trend down. Keeping...

    Likelihood of upcoming travel plans

I live in Tulsa OK, and we have a daughter getting married in January next year in Orlando. So my wife and I have booked a trip to Orlando in June to help her shop for a wedding dress. So if the plane flys, and we are still alive, we WILL be on it! I hope you get to have a great trip to...

    COVID-19 Shutdown Exit Strategy?

I drove by the Tulsa airport today, and there were probably about 100 or more American Airline Jets just parked wing to wing lining both sides of the East-West runway, and adjacent empty Tarmac areas (the winds in Tulsa are predominantly North South, so the East West runway is seldom used)...
