I just pulled the plug - needed a lay off to push me out the door. I am nervous about the change but have spent 40 years building the funds for the next 30+ yrs so I feel as confident as I am going to. As one other poster stated you can RE now then, someday, find something that you love and...
Hi All,
I have been on this site for several years and learned/implemented so many of the suggestions and ideas. I am so thankful for the great advise and sound boards for my ideas. I am now sitting on a nice asset base, enough to retire. I was laid of @ work Wednesday, they are giving me 3...
This is a great baseline. What is not included is other income, like most ER's I do not include SS in my budget calculations. Since that is variable a table really could not include it. We do 40/60 and are 54 and 53 yrs old planning on ER next yr. I may change the AA when we start collecting...
I think that I am very tolerant now - I care about the things that I have control over and really don't accept other peoples problems. I just don't think its productive so until they ask me to do something I just smile thinking that I only work part time and that is voluntary on my part.
I...
It was meant to be. I told my manager last August that I wanted to have 4 day weekends and work 25 hrs per week with benefits. He said no so I gave my notice. The next morning I was standing by our executive getting coffee, which never happens, and he congratulated me on retiring early. I...

Saved $100 per month on our cable bill. I installed a small indoor TV antenna that is amplified with a 50 mile range. We get 46 HD digital channels. The magic jack has been working great. We use HULU Plus and Amazon Prime for our streaming content.
Next mission is to get the moble phone...
We are in MA and in a 30 yr old house. We updated the windows and doors 3 yrs ago. 6 yrs ago we installed a pellet stove insert. It has a thermostat witch we set to 68. That keeps our second floor at 66. I highly recommend these as they are carbon nuetral and reduced our oil and electric...
Nope - any gaps will stay in hotels/campgrounds(Tent) etc... I will plan the logistics so we don't do that too much. for example in our area, MA, from Sept thru May you can get a place near the ocean for 900/month with everything included except food. That's 8 months of 12. The next 4 maybe...
So my wife were walking and a young lady was jogging behind us. As she approached to pass us I said Hi, she said Hi, and I said nice shirt (a reward for completing local 5 mile race) she replied thanks. My wife say’s after a few min. what a nice young lady. I say – that was your daughter!
Wife and I are going to buy a used enclosed trailer 17 X 7 and fill it with our home. Locate furnished or unfurnished houses/apartments for rent during the off seasons and hang out in those area's.
Rent a uhaul to move the trailer and get down to one car.
I know - that and some of the local stations, MA, like NESN own the market and if you want to see, i.e., the Celtics, play you have no choice except to buy an NBA League pass for $150/year and be subject to stupid blackout games.... gerrr >:(
