I play group sports. I really enjoy them, so I'm not particularly doing it for health. When all the group sports stopped during the lockdown, my step count on my Fitbit decreased drastically and I hardly ever got into the fat-burning zone. I have a feeling the lockdown affected a lot of people...
I have a friend like that with ovarian cancer. Surgeon went into remove fibroids and found ovarian cancer. It's been at least 40 years since then and she's doing fine. Another lucky one.
My fitness spend was around $250 USD per month last year. No club membership or equipment fee (except for balls/shoes/paddles, etc) but I played in a bunch of volleyball leagues, tournaments and drop-ins. I will be spending much more this year (triple?) as I am fully transitioning to pickleball...
Great job on your migration! Thank you for all the hard work!
With the old system, when I typed early-retirement.org on my browser, the default screen that came up was a new post screen. It now brings up the main forum screen. Any way to change my default portal screen to new posts, like we had...
I know, right? I was getting an early-retirement.org withdrawal, and I'm so happy that we're back! (I didn't realize I relied on this site so much for my daily entertainment.)
Have you ever watched TV show "Lost"? Fallout reminds me a little bit of Lost. The retro part of Fallout (The Dharma Initiative of Lost) and the past/present back and forth remind me of Lost.
I used to love watching Six Feet Under. I looked forward to it every week. (The original aired on HBO). I think I liked the craziness of some of the things that happened on the show. It had a very unique vibe. I don't think I had watched a show quite like it before then. If I remember correctly...
Eddie, i agree. You can't really call smelling the roses a life purpose, but you can definitely call that a meaningful activity! Not everyone has to have a lofty purpose.
It took me a few years to find my footing after retirement. I was elated the first 6 minths as i was moving cross country and starting a new life ina new place. Then i hit the "Now, what?" phase.
You could say I was kind driven in my career. I think that is just my personality. I always wanted...
I've just finished watching Season 2 of Tourist on Prime. I really enjoyed it. With Jamie Dornan (50 Shades of Grey) and Danielle Mcdonald (Dumplin') Not a regular crime drama (at all) as it was serious in some places, but comical in some places but not in a cheesy way. The ending of Season 2...
Just a balanced diet in general. Nothing specific. Some kind of meat or seafood, green/red or colourful veggies, grains/bread or potatoes, and a few servings of fresh or frozen fruits, so basically, whole foods without much processed food. That kind of thing. You said a few days ago that you...
Yeah, I watched the documentary on how that went down. Pretty amazing that that whole deception was not uncovered for so long. I guess we believe in what we want to believe in.
Just to add, Don Henley seems to sing Desperado the same way every time. Not the same as the original recording, but he doesn't seem to deviate at all from one live performance to the next including Howard Stern's close-up performance.
I heard that some artists change things up here and there...
