Nice Cars... is it a vice?

I really need to get to this point, I just don't know how. Need to get over it so I can just fully enjoy my gifts to myself from the hard work. I'm pretty young still (30s) so maybe thats adding to the d-bag feel.

Nice Cars... is it a vice?

Last year I bought a Mercedes S550, almost fully loaded. Sexy as hell, fun to drive. Still not sure how I feel about the vibe it gives off. For some reason I can't get over caring about what people think on the car front. I really enjoy sexy cars that are fun to drive but they definitely give...

    Alienated Grandparents

I agree with Aerides above, I'd be pissed if my parents or parents in law bought my kids their first bike as well. That is totally robbing the parents from a very special purchase in a childs life. Now if it wasn't the first bike then I would say she is acting inappropriately.

Our oldest turned 4 this year as well. He's slowly getting better. Less needing of a daily exorcism.

    Any other 30-40somethings FIREd?

We road trip'd 30 hours with a 6month old and an 18 month old...I would not recommend it, ha! And that was just the drive down.

    Any other 30-40somethings FIREd?

I'm your exact age and in the same boat. I actually had a 4 year sabbatical, went back to work for a couple years, then out again. The only difference is we have 2 more kids than you and that is a game changer. If you are feeling the "is this all there is" (which i've felt before too), there is...

I did it - I won! FIRE attitude + business sale

I forgot to add up top that the very first thing I did after the wire transfer from the sale hit my account was go straight to the bank and pay off our vehicle loans and our mortgage!! It was totally an emotional play and the adrenaline was high but it was the right call lol

I did it - I won! FIRE attitude + business sale

Right now just going to work a coupe days a week for the new owners. I've already felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders in terms of being a manager of people so its been even more fun in the office since the sale. Agreed! Even though I paid myself well throughout owning the company, it...

I did it - I won! FIRE attitude + business sale

I've actually been just doing part time hours at the office the last few years so I've been able to find a nice balance between work/life. One of the cool parts with the deal is that the buyers are leaving it up to me of how much or how little I want to work for the new organization. I am very...

I did it - I won! FIRE attitude + business sale

Ok, I didn't actually win anything but it kind of feels like it! Something amazing happened last week, I made it to the other side. The side opposite of worrying about if all of that hard work will pay off in the end. The side opposite of stressing over will that employee who I count on so...

Convincing myself that I have enough money to retire

How about just mentally not committing? Tell yourself you are going to try this whole retirement thing for 12 months and then just go from there. If you hate it (unlikely) you can find another job after the months is up. Life slows WAY down after you stop working 40hrs a week and you'll soon...

Thanks, I'll check him out! Maybe not private jets but certainly more than 100k/yr. Maybe 200-300k/yr? I haven't researched it at all to see what the internet police say.

Bloggers that cater to higher income folks

Thanks guys. I have followed Financial Samauri for awhile. Seems like his content has gotten a bit stale the last year or two though. I've been searching through the Fatfire Reddit today and that has been good so far. Would be nice to find a couple bloggers though too.

Bloggers that cater to higher income folks

Ha, no! Just lots of nuances in life when you get past the initial stages of FIRE and it would be fun to follow. It seems that some of these bloggers get to that fat fire stage but continue the same tone/topics in their posts. Lifestyle, taxes, work, relationships, etc change a bit as you get...

Bloggers that cater to higher income folks

Has anyone found a good blogger or two who focuses on the higher end FIRE net worth crowd? I think white coat investor has been a good one but I’m struggling to find another. It seems most bloggers are either “lean” fire or regular fire, not to many “fat” fire.
