    When considering marginal rates, don't forget about state taxes also, here in Rhode Island the marginal tax rate on most income is 3.75% or 4.75%. If you retire to a low or no tax state, you never have to pay the state tax man (or woman :))!

    It is tough to draw a correlation between one factor when so many factors are involved, You are assuming that the cause is geographic when it probably is a lot of different factors including race, ethnicity, obesity, alcohol consumption, diet, etc.

    Invest in foreign securities in which will increase in value relative to the dollar. 8) Not only do you get the price appreciation of the asset (hopefully) you get more dollars when you sell the asset and transfer its value back into dollars. 8)
