    Goodbye

Just wanted to inform you that I am leaving this Forum. I have been a member here for close to 12 years. I appreciate the knowledge I have gained here, and the friends. However, every good thing comes to an end, and it is time for me to leave on my own terms. I wish you all well for the future...

This is not so much about travel

If I booked a balcony, it would be because I wanted a balcony. I would never voluntarily choose an inside cabin. I would want at least a window. So I would say no.

    Poll:Do you travel internationally?

First let me state that I have a great deal of respect for most of the American members of this forum, as individuals. To answer your question... 1. There have been several reports in reputable international media of people being treated disrespectfully at US Immigration or being refused entry...

    Poll:Do you travel internationally?

If you really want to know, wintering in Phoenix has become less attractive to many Canadians due to some recent changes in US immigration policy and other issues.

    Poll:Do you travel internationally?

Yes, Canada is international. I have to declare all my international assets on my Canadian income tax return, and they include US assets.

    Poll:Do you travel internationally?

My US relatives had some visitors from Ireland, their first trip. They offered to take the visitors sightseeing and asked what they would like to see. The answer: the Grand Canyon. So not all Europeans have the same perspective!

    Poll:Do you travel internationally?

Think about a transatlantic repositioning cruise. They are great value and very relaxing, if you have the time. Which, as a retiree, you do!

    Rambling thoughts from Canada

Cool! It does seem to be very province-specific. Let’s hope it’s still around when your kids are old enough to benefit.

    Blow that Dough! - 2018

Reminds me of my good friend and neighbour, whose daughter was into horses. They bought her a horse. Unfortunately the horse developed some rare disease and had to be euthanized. Then they bought her another horse.....

    Rambling thoughts from Canada

I would like to know about the policy that will pay for your children’s education if you are retired. I was not aware of that.

I don’t live in the US, though I did spend 3 years there way back in the 1980s. I have lived and worked in 3 countries, hold 2 citizenships, and have travelled to 35 countries last time I counted. I generally travel internationally approximately twice a year. My last visit to the US was two...

What did you do today? 2018 version

Yes, but that’s what Brazilian credit card thieves bought after they scammed my Visa in 1997. Jewellery would be a good buy. Or cash.

The pizza was the test run. If they got away with the pizza, airline tickets could be next.

Communities' thoughts on handling an inheritance?

My advice would be to let the chips fall where they may and if your sister complains about not being included in the will, refer her to your uncle’s lawyer, who will be able to give an objective account of your lack of influence on your uncle’s decision. You could also ask your uncle to include...

    Reasonably priced travel tours/groups

Avalon told her NOT to go on this walking tour, and she read them the riot act about discrimination. She was not a nice lady!

    Reasonably priced travel tours/groups

Not Tauck, but I took a river cruise up the Danube with Avalon Waterways in 2014. I loved the cruise and the service was excellent. But.....there was an American woman on the ship, travelling with a friend, who had a mobility problem. She needed to push one of those walker-chair thingies. Our...

    Blow that Dough! - 2018

One of my friends installed a lift like that when doing a kitchen reno. She also uses it for her Kitchenaid mixer. And she is quite petite. Well worth the money, if you have the space.

What you consider *superior* products (II)

I have one set of bamboo sheets. They have a small textured pattern. They wrinkle in the wash around this pattern, so if I want them to look their best, I have to iron them. Next time I will be buying cotton sheets.
