Based on information available to date, the Trustees estimate the 2018 standard Medicare Part B premium to remain stable at $134 for those not subject to IRMAA or the "hold harmless" provision. Those subject to the hold harmless provision will see some or all of their estimated 2.2% SS COLA for 2018 applied to the Part B premium.

The Part B deductible is expected to remain unchanged.

The Part B rates paid by those subject to IRMAA are also expected to remain unchanged although 2018 is the year the premium rate tiers change for couples earning $267k-$428k (half that for individuals).

Information on the actual changes will be released in the fall.

Additional details: Social Security trust fund will be depleted in 17 years, according to trustees report | PBS NewsHour

The Part B income thresholds have changed for the higher income brackets in 2018. If you are under $214K annual income (joint), then no difference.

My DH starts Medicare in January 2018, and is not covered under "hold harmless" as he will not start Social Security until 70 yrs, so good to know. Nice savings from paying the $434 per month for ACA Florida Blue in 2017 which is increasing to $526 in 2018.

Thank you for posting this info.
