So remember when we were all hoping PenFed would come up with higher rates so our 3% certificates maturing this winter had a place to go? Just got an email from PenFed offering 5 year certs for 3%. Kinda funny that I'm not yet enthused about the offer and suspect it will go up. What are your thoughts?
Penalties are of note as REWahoo said in a different thread:
"2) Certifcates Having a Term Greater Than Six
Months.
a) If redeemed within the frst year, all dividends
will be forfeited.
b) If redeemed thereafter, but prior to the maturity
date, the early withdrawal penalty will equal 30%
of what would have been earned if the certifcate
had been held to maturity, not to exceed total
dividends earned"
