I just don't see it happening. There will always be people who spend beyond their paycheck.

The article points out that while this would be a shock to the system initially, the long term effects would be very positive. I particularly liked this one:

"The typical retirement age would probably drop, increasing demand for workers and perhaps boosting wages."

So I guess early retirees aren't selfish anymore - we just increase demand for workers.
