Ben Carlson article on why bonds are still part of the "Holy Grail"

This article seems to make the point that recent bond problems are not the norm and he believes(as I do) that they are still part of the correlation differences for a successful portfolio.

At 68, wife 64, we have not owned any bonds, all index funds with a little in REITs, with some cash and property (pending a sale within 6 months).
This article kinda pushes me closer, on the other hand, my investing now is for my kids inheritance, my wife and I can easily live on 1/2 of our portfolio. In 11 months we'll start SS and our WDR will be under 1%.
I'm still flailing about with the idea of holding bonds--for years. I do understand with the high rates, now is a good time as they will increase in value if/as rates drop.
