CBD "Personal" Lube

Sounds like snake oil to me. CBD is the wonder cure for everything apparently.

I have concluded that CBD is just snake oil. I found ZERO actual scientific research on CBD oil. ALL the research showing benefits is from THC + CBD. They think that the CBD moderates the paranoiac effects of THC. Its the THC that has beneficial qualities. The trace amounts of THC in CBD oil have no biological effect.

Advertising conflates useless CBD oil with claims from THC research.

Here's a blogger than explains how various lube brands might suck water out of tissue, and other flaws in formulations:

that is incorrect. NIH has reported several studies that document improved seizure control with CBD oil. The anecdotal reports in other areas are probably about as useful as the anecdotal reports about the myriad benefits of medical marijuana. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5767492/

Last week, my daughter ordered a lavender CBD water at dinner. I tried a sip. I couldn't smell or taste the lavender for the overwhelming hemp smell and taste. Disgusting!

Pretty sure most people are not buying all these products for their (or their pets’) moderate activity against seizure disorder. Especially lavender water.

For those who are certain CBD is a placebo effect try some on your pet.

Athena, is there some reason you can't use generic estradiol? Has to be Premarin formulary?

T I now use Premarin cream, which is darned expensive ($360 for a tube that lasts 3-4 months, no discounts through GoodRx) but it directly addresses the root cause- lack of estrogen supply to the tissues.

.

That survey is about seizures, and includes studies using THC mixtures.

CBD oil is more expensive per gram than gold. Seizure studies use doses from 2-25 or even 50 mg/kg - one study averaged 22.9 mg/day. So a standard man of 70 kg is taking 40 to 1750 or 3500 mg per day. No one can afford to purchase that much.

The stuff you buy over the counter is useless for epilepsy, even if huge doses might not be.

And there is no literature on the "aches & pains" claims, which are the bread & butter of the marketing.

I guess I'm derailing this thread a bit. There have been a number of get rich quick schemes come through the farming communities. Llamas and ostriches both had their day. Hemp is the latest product in Kentucky. A lot of farmers jumped on the opportunity. Several facilities were under construction to produce CBD oil. Contracts were signed, and acres were planted.

Now, the stories are starting to appear in the local news. Turns out only one sex of the hemp plant is useful for CBD oil. Some farmers were sold the wrong sex seeds. Some seeds planted had terrible germination. Processors are not completing construction of plants. Processors are filing for bankruptcy. Contracts are not being paid. Farmers are losing all of their investments. I've seen these sorts of schemes come and go for years.

Much of the information coming back from research on cannabis confirms we don't know very much. New compounds are discovered regularly, CBN has much promise too as well as terpenes. There's a number of cannabinoids that aren't found elsewhere and our bodies are equipped with a system to process them.

You can buy nearly pure THC diamonds in legal states. Little pricey but hey it's over 99% THC, it's going to be the greatest high ever! Thirty minutes later your empty high is over, not the greatest high but a hollow experience with almost no medical benefits. Something is missing. What's the difference? Many believe the whole plant must be incorporated for the full experience.

Cannabis, a complex plant: different compounds and different effects on individuals

Zerrin Atakan
Additional article information

Abstract

Cannabis is a complex plant, with major compounds such as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol, which have opposing effects. The discovery of its compounds has led to the further discovery of an important neurotransmitter system called the endocannabinoid system. This system is widely distributed in the brain and in the body, and is considered to be responsible for numerous significant functions.....

Darn, I never even knew about that! I just looked it up. I've got a full tube of the Premarin but need to find a new primary care doc soon- will check with him/her on this.

There are good reasons I hang out on internet chat boards with total strangers.:D

Our insurance (BCBS) requires the use of generics if available. If the Dr. doesn't automatically offer a generic Rx, I always ask. The difference in price is astonishing!

Haha! But this isn't just ANY internet chat board. I've learned so much outside of ER topics on this board that DW thinks it is a cult :)

That was my question when I saw the high price you pay for Premarin. I paid $30 for a tube of estradiol through my medicare advantage plan. According to Good RX it can be had for a bit over $50 without insurance. I hope the generic can work for you and save some $$$ also.

The problem with any CBD product is the same as with any other supplement...who knows what is actually in there?

Is there any CBD at all or if so is it at the dose specified?

One of those, you know, educational cults.

Same thing happening in Pa. We had a processor stinking up a neighborhood, it got shut down then closed or bankrupt.

Also we have a township named Hempfield, guessing the industry was big here at one time.

Look at all the weed stocks, how can't you make money selling weed ? Get the government involved.

Dang. After reading this thread I'm suddenly seeing ads for ...-infused this and that.

I’ve tried it. Didn’t notice any particular affect. Post menopause bio identical estrogen cream and testosterone cream work much better as far as keeping things normal and or enhancing things. As far as extra lube goes for protecting older dryer sensitive skin...nothing beats coconut oil.

Also found Viagra works well for both sexes.

so the OP stated he was not interested in many of these comments. most all of the comments are off topic. so i'll start a new on where everyone an post their knowledge.

The DF and I have tried THC lube from our local dispensary.
After applying it to our "lady parts", we both felt a pleasant warm, tingling feeling after about 20 min.
We liked it :)

CBD does not work well for me, but THC does give some relief to my nocturnal itch from Dystonia, although not as much relief as edibles or smoking.

I can get that pleasant warm, tingling feeling just thinking about "lady parts". But more to my point, would you get the same pleasant warm, tingling feeling "applying" any oil or cream without CBD to your "lady parts"?

I make cannabis-butter. Some people use coconut oil, I would buy my wife is allergic to coconut.

Also I had a cancer surgery where they removed the part that Viagra works on, so it has no effect on me.

My wife has a significant family history of cervix cancers, so she can not use HRT or any of the estrogen cremes. And I am forbidden from using any Testosterone as it kicks my cancer into high gear.
