Hope everyone had a great holiday. I have just took my distribution for 2012 and paid all taxes due. I have 100k extra and would like some ideas on here to invest it. Rather conservative, for better or worse. Quick background on wife and I situation. Have 3.5 million in taxable cd's, 500k in seps, 401k, about 200k in cash accounts.
No real debt and we are both around fifty. Would like to retire in less than five years. New cd's are not paying more than 2 percent. Was thinking about muni's. Thanks in advance.

How about Vanguard's tax managed balanced fund.....half muni bonds, half stocks. It pays around 2% dividends each year and has total earnings that grow around 5 to 7% although you can lose money......as you can in just about every stock or bond investment. Doesn't look like you don't have much in stocks......some diversification could be good for you. I've owned a bunch for many years......really pleased with it.
