Favorite iPad apps

I just got my first iPad and am in the process of finding a few apps for it. I have several already such as Evernote and Tripit. I am wondering what your favorite iPad apps are? I don't want to limit this request to what I think I may want since often we don't know that we 'need' something until we see it.

Enjoy! I rarely buy apps, but the Photon and Web Albums were well worth the price I paid.

I check the App Store most popular lists periodically and download free apps all the time. I've only bought a few paid apps, just cheap I guess, though I've been tempted by Numbers since I got my iPad...

I was using sudoku2 (free) but am abandoning it and back to searching for another. I'm looking forward to Kindle. This is a timely thread topic, thanks Chuckanut. Are there any apps to get rid of this odious auto-correct? I have not yet looked at any financial apps or done any account access because I have unresolved concerns about security, especially for a device with no antivirus protection and will probably be taken out of the house often.

Michael, you can get rid of auto-correct by going to settings>general>keyboard and turning off auto-correction.

Grocery IQ- super grocery list app- can even scan an item to add to list
Zite- personalized magazine app
Google Voice- I use it for texting mostly, but also picking up our messages when traveling
Dragon Dictation- dictate anything then copy and paste to whatever
Red Laser Classic-scan UPC of an item when shopping and get pricing info from web
Easy Notes- my to do list

Notemaster beat out Evernote for me, I forget why.

I have three checklist apps for different purposes. Remember the milk for a to-do task list. Shopshop for shopping list, and mobilist for checklists for, for example, remembering what to take on a bike ride (cell, snack, water, lock, etc).

On a different note, while I don't have an IPad (do have a smartphone and K-Fire) I found the "app" I use the most is my local grocery market layout, which they distribute on 8x11" paper.

I scanned it for both devices and use it when shopping (it's a big store). Keeps me from walking around in circles (at least in the store ).

Sometimes, the most useful app is not an app at all...

Thanks for the lists, I've picked up a few more apps that look promising.

I LOVE being able to deposit checks to my Schwab account with the camera and their app. And Siri is my new best friend!

Big Bad Sudoku Book (not free but I play it every night; nice to have it bigger than on the iPhone)
Pocket Frogs (my favorite app on iPad and iPhone)
Swiped (just got the paid version of this one yesterday)

I have the Kindle app, but prefer to read on my Kindle.

I'm going to seriously check out apps others like on this thread. I have been disappointed with my iPad and mostly use it for games. Maybe some better apps would help.

Bing News app.
Oddly enough, I dont have many apps, I have a bunch of websites saved on the screen for access instead.

Baby Anaconda when we were in Peru! DH wouldn't get near it! A local guy caught it near the lodge where we were staying, so thought he'd bring it by for a photo op.
It brought to mind that old "Marlin Perkins will enjoy a drink on the veranda while Jim wrestles the giant Anaconda" from Wild Kingdom.

Star Walk for iPad is awesome.

Hold the iPad up to the sky outside and it gives you an annotated map of the sky for the direction you are looking, and based on your location and time of course! Nice night viewing mode is easy on the eyes. Just fantastic and such a clever use of built-in features of the iPad such as the GPS and the gyroscope/accelerometer.

Thanks for the info. I'm still debating whether to get an iPad or an Android tablet and Star Walk was one of the apps i wanted to know about.

Be careful about using financial apps. The Cloud is not secure.

I do not have an Ipad. Apps I have seen and would want are Star Walk and Zillow and one I have seen that tells about nearby restaurants, not sure what it is called.

Yup!. I have had a few upgrades that only upgrade the ability to show ads or do other things I probably don't like.

I don't have cell service on mine, so only use it at home via Wifi and to read with. I like it better than my Nook Color since the screen is bigger.

I actually avoid apps in general. I use the built in ones most of all and otherwise have few. I prefer to use a website through the internet browser Safari then any special app interface to a company's website.

Other than the built-ins which i use constantly, I use a good Spanish-English dictionary by Word Magic. I occasionally need a calculator - the freebie by 7thg is very nice. Star Walk when the night sky warrants. That's really it.

Like my husband, I tend to avoid 3rd party software in general and I don't like app clutter. I do trust apps by Google, Adobe (for graphic design) in addition to Apple.

LogMeIn... kind of expensive ($25 when I bought it), but if you have a need for it it's simply amazing! It allows you to control any other computer you own from your iPhone or iPad... so essentially you can run any program from your other computers from your iPad.
