Jeffman52, I am sorry for your loss.

Dementia takes the minds of our loved ones far too soon, before it takes the body. It's a long road. My DGM and Uncle both had it, so hard on families.

DH and I have added a dementia clause to our living wills.

So sorry everyone has had to go through this. It's crushing to see someone losing their mind, plus it's frightening to think it could happen to us or our spouse. My mom spent her last few days flailing and crying out in bed, and at one point tried to choke a nurse and had to be restrained. Doctor said she wouldn't give her anti-anxiety meds because there was a shortage. Life can be so cruel.
