Need clarification on the 4% rule

Years ago, I did some work in Mexico City. It was an experience to be driven to the office with escorts carrying m-16s and large firearms.

Not a fun assignment. Tell them you'll gladly telecommute :D

Neuvo Laredo. Not good!!

My decision is already made. I'll work a couple more years as long as they don't ask me to risk my life. Otherwise,... I'll just decline, go home, and enjoy retirement.

For me, it might be a mental issue, as I don't feel FI or serious RE situation even with 100% success from FIRECalc.

Like you, I wouldn't make a decision like that purely on the basis of output from FIRECalc, or any other model. I kept testing my situation every which way but Sunday until I realized that I really could afford to retire as soon as I qualified for lifetime medical. I just can't trust any one model with my life - - but kept at it until I realized that they all gave me a green light, and that my own Excel spreadsheet "what ifs" did as well. I do understand your point of view.
