New Milestone - $300,000

Hi All,

I just crossed the $300k threshold today! Whoo Hoo [emoji385] [emoji383] [emoji389]

This makes my lay off a little more palpable. Since my layoff technically starts on 4/2/2017, I have four more 401(k) contributions ($3,170.48) coming. It'll be weird to have a break in contributions after all this time. [emoji45]

Here are my new stats:

2/14/2017: 12/31/2016:
401(k): $249,433.84 $236,821.54
Roth: $51,134.79 $46,605.67
Total: $300,568.63 $283,427.21

Includes: $1,522.97 (401k) and $920.00 (Roth) in 2017 YTD contributions. I will continue to make Roth contributions throughout the year to the max.

Amen to that! Looking back through my records though, I've found that the maximum amount of times I crossed a $100K threshold going the wrong direction was three. I broke $400K in October 2007, but fell back below it in November. Popped it going the right way again in December, but then went south again in January. In May of 2008 I was above $400K, but the next month got me below it.

And then there was the Great Recession, which not only ensured I'd break below the $300K barrier, but damn near took me to the next one, resting at $210K by November 2008. By November 2009 I was back up over $400K though. And hopefully I'll never see $400K again

In the beginning of May 2011, I crossed 7 figures and crossed it again 7 times, not going over it for good (I hope!) until mid-January 2012. I never paid much attention until that one, although I think I did pay some attention to 500k.
