The iPhone app called "pulse" is a good way to check out the news. It's a little slow to load, but other than that it works quite well.

Are you telling me that a guy who cuts toilet paper rolls in half has an I Phone? What's up with that?

Paper towels. Please. :)

It's true I'd never get an iPhone with the contract. I have an iPod touch that I got used for $100.

Geez, Al, some days I barely get around to checking my e-mail-- let alone the news.

This sounds like a solution that's creating its own problem.

Will check it out. I have a $125 used iphone 3 that is on the LAN, like Al's.

A couple of tips.:

- recently got the Opera min browser, which is much faster than the integrated browser (which seems to choke a lot on google news).

- there's an NPR app that has interesting news.

- Bloomberg app is pretty good for financial news.
