I have a Wells Fargo Stable Value Fund option in my 401k that I'm thinking of investing a significant amount of my FI money into (50%+). Right now, that money is split between a total bond market fund and short-term federal fund.

The stable value fund is yielding 2.09% after expenses.

I've never invested in a stable fund before and I know they're not zero risk. Is there any downside to investing in this fund?

It's been around since 1985 and appears to have a good track record, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something before buying the fund.

Thanks in advance.
