A covered wagon at the Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area in Il
Very nice picture. Goose lake was my old stomping grounds as a kid growing up. My uncle had a place on the lake and I would spend summers with my cousin there. Great memories.
When I moved to the Bay Area, I was told that those cranes at the Port of Oakland (in your first photo) were George Lucas' inspiration for the AT-AT Walkers from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. I later found out, from an interview with George Lucas, that it is a complete myth. However, they certainly do cast foreboding figures over the landscape! This recent 4th of July we took a cruise onto San Francisco bay to watch the fireworks from the USS Potomac. Of course it was impossible to take decent fireworks photos from a bobbing ship. However, the best photo opportunities were on the trip out of and into the Oakland estuary.
Excellent shot, hesperus! How close were you to the bee and still get focus?
