Just having a heart attack does not make you eligible for a heart transplant . You have to be in heart failure and on death's doorstep .My brother had a heart transplant . He was in heart failure and lived in ICU for six months before they found a match . It was questionable so He had to pass . Finally an exact match was found it was someone who worked at the hospital He was in . They were in a car accident and happened to be a perfect match .
