It's all a matter of perspective. Starting next month I'll be able to work three 8 hour days/week on my glide path to full retirement. Been FI for a while, but I really like what I'm doing (nice work environment, low stress, personally satisfying) so no urgent need to stop. If I was truly retired I'd probably find some interesting places to volunteer a couple of times a week anyway, so might as well get paid to do something I enjoy.

That's the whole point of being FI isn't it? It doesn't mean you have to stop working. It means you have the option to if things go south or you just want to do something else.
