Come on...other than spending a brazillion dollars on bureaucracy, we've done next to nothing to prevent another 9/11, nor are we better equipped to handle the aftermath.

The purpose of the current Homeland Security fiasco seems to be to provide a new venue for patronage/corruption (jobs, govt contracts) plus a wedge into transforming civil service into something more like private business.
