Has anyone here had any real life experience with either their hair or someone they know with gray/white/silver hair getting darker? I don't mean turning from white to brown, say, but just getting more dark hairs back?
How is this possible if the person is taking the same vitamins they always took and no life changes have taken place? Is this common?

It comes from really good sex. You just outed yourself. :)

Ha

Yes...it's happening to DH. When he was a little boy, his hair was white; then over time it became brown. Fast forward to him being 50...mostly white/silver hair. He's 55 now and his hair is getting darker in some areas.

Hunh. Mine just keeps getting blonder and blonder - moving well into the platinum range these days.

I didn't know this could really happen, Moemg and all. Well, I seem to be getting more black hairs back or, at least, it appears so recently. I'm stymied myself as to why this is happening.
My hair went from coal black to a silvery white in my later 50's--like black hair does--and it was pretty whitish. Now I'm getting more black hairs back....huh? Of course, it is still overall silvery whitish.
I'd dye it if every hairdresser didn't tell me it was pretty. I believe everything I'm told obviously.

Decreased stress? Improved diet? Many have attributed these factors to increased non-grey hairs. Is the texture changing at all?

Hard to tell if there is a change in texture as I've changed shampoos and conditioners to ones that work better for me, which took some work by the way.
Diet about the same. Maybe some decreased stress or, rather, I've accepted the situation of inevitability (I'm eldercaring, so....).

My hair got darker, but my hairdresser had a role in it.

Apparently some medications can cause this in certain people. It does seem strange. Maybe your hair is lightened less by the sun now that summer is over.

The next time you see your doctor for a regular checkup, it might be worth mentioning your darkening hair to him just to see what he has to say about it.

Okay, Orchid, admit it--you tried the two daily tablespoons of olive oil, didn't you? Maybe your hair is taking on the luxurious colors of a Mediterranean signorina as a result!

Somehow I haven't been able to work up the courage to even try the first tablespoon of olive oil. Big sissy here.

I did read that taking vitamin B-12 can darken your hair. I've taken it for a long time, so that isn't it for me either.
