Actually, beer works far better as they like it so much they will crawl into a plate of it and drink until they drown. Sort of like some employees I have.

I had a garden with slugs once. I used salt and beer. I had to quit because I was worried about making the soil to salty and I was wasting my beer on slugs. I decided to pull them off with chopsticks and flush them down the toilet. After killing hundreds this way, I was having slug nightmares. Finally, I let them have the garden. I drank my beer which made me forget about my half eaten flowers. And all was well.

I have plenty of self-restraint. I just find it too hard to utilize.
