NFL: 2018 Season

This has been quite a conference championship Sunday... both games going to overtime.

Go Pats!

I can’t believe they pulled that one off. If the Chiefs had played better in the first half, they’d probably have won. Mahomes is a phenom.

Perfect example of why the OT rules need to change. KC never even got a chance on offense in OT. Doesn't make sense.

Here’s to hope in the future. The Chiefs will either be a Cinderella team or have a ‘rebuilding year’. Anything better than 8-8 and I’ll be happy.

I retract my last post. Some solid defensive improvements and just wait till next year!

The biggest play of the Pats vs Chiefs game was calling "heads" during the OT coin flip .

A crazy and entertaining game indeed.

What a difference a referee's call makes... they may need police escort out of the Superdome.
I think a few refs need to retire .... obvious blown calls with 1 call determined the outcome (Saints), the 2nd turned out to be irrelevant (KC interception - When an object changes direction it obviously was either touched by someone or it touch someone .... NE player)

I agree... the OT should be more like NCAA where each team gets a chance... that NFL OT rule has never made sense... also Tim Tebow's first round overtime win at Denver.. same thing... opponent never got a chance.

All those guys work too hard to have a game or a season come down to a coin flip.

Which play are you referring to in the second part?

Saints got totally robbed. All year, refs were calling defenseless receiver penalties except this obvious one. So obvious that the defender said he himself was beat on the play and purposely interfered.

On the KC/Pats game, I don't think the punt returner made contact, but didn't see anything inconclusive to overturn. Also, that roughing the QB call which was an obvious blown call.

It was very clear to me that Edleman never made contact with the punted ball from all the replays I saw.... not that he wasn't trying to field the ball... it was just that it didn't tough him. The roughing the passer was definitely a bad call but I can see where from some angles the defender might have appeared to slash at Brady.

Two for the ages. Sad to see a team lose like the Saints did. Agree that that was brutal officiating at the end. And the Chiefs-Pats was just incredible.

+1

Perhaps a new D coordinator. Good year for the O.

There have been way too many bad or no-calls and that is why these on the field calls need to be made reviewable, and allow coaches to throw their challenges flags on these type of misses.

New England Patriots vs. Los Angeles Rams: outside of Los Angeles, is there much excitement about these two long-time, bitter-rivals playing in the Super Bowl?

I'll have other plans for that Sunday evening. Not sure what they are but they won't involve watching football.

Wonder if the winner of this year's Super Bowl will have to get an asterisk by their win?

The Saints plain and simple should be the ones in the Super Bowl. Rams are a good team, but they won due to absolutely terrible officiating.

Agree also that the NFL OT rule does not even give the other team a chance makes it so the coin flip becomes more a factor than the actual playing.

I believe that the official that threw the flag was behind Brady. From that angle, it would look like the defender’s arm came down on Brady’s helmet. The front view sure showed otherwise.

No matter who is playing, I’ll be checking in. As a Detroit native, I don’t think I’ll ever see my team on Super Bowl Sunday. Thankfully there’s this fun game called squares that I’ve done pretty well with over the years :D

Somewhat agree with this, but the other team did have a chance. Their chance was to stop the other team from scoring. That’s a chance and KC’s defense blew it.

I don’t really care who plays, but I was happy to see the Saints lose, just not the way they lost and I would have liked to see the Patriots lose. Said another way, I was rooting for the under dogs.

Will not be watching the SB , I feel the NFL MUST correct this officiating . I predicted Rams VS Pats earlier and sure enough because of terrible calls these teams win . How could refs miss the call on the Saints unprotected receiver . The NFL has been working on trying to make the game safer . Tommy gets a roughing the passer call on a third and nine . Someway some how the Pats always get the calls . Even after the NFL apologizes again and again .
The SB will be won by LA , the NFL wants to nurture the LA fan market . There will be tons of feel good stories on the Cali. fires and how much the Rams mean to the area . During the season I watched twice as a Browns fan as two games were so poorly officiated that we lost games and the NFL apologized . I say if players can be suspended so should officials …….No accountability.
Heck Roger Goodell makes 44m a year make him accountable
