Daniel Kahneman, Nobel laureate who upended economics, dies at 90

Link

I really enjoyed his book Thinking, Fast and Slow (which I learned about here on the book thread) and his ideas that people don't always make the rational economic decisions that are in their best interest.

He had a good run, and saw many interesting things in his long life - a lot of ethnic strife, displacement and a post WWII era that was both beneficial for the world in total while being very challenging at times for Israelis (as well as the rest of us to a lesser degree).

Over 20 years ago, the Nobel committee thought his observations about human behavior and decision-making were a significant contribution and would hold up over time. His work did open up another credible avenue of economic thought. As an econ theory hobbyist, I give it credence, but will let time tell of its durability.

However it plays out, we're better off for his work. RIP
