Is insurance on a pickup truck the same as auto insurance? Or is that a separate insurance category?

For example, if a non pickup truck owner borrows a pickup truck and gets in an accident. Would the non pickup truck owner's auto insurance be secondary, just like if he/she borrowed a regular car?

My experience is that pickup trucks are among the cheapest vehicles to insure.
