One of the criticisms of he Kindle Fire is that it has your Amazon info
already loaded so it is easy to unload your wallet and order stuff from Amazon w/o a password. Does this mean anything that Amazon carries or is it just stuff to download to the Kindle? If someone stole your Kindle , could he then order anything and have it shipped to his own or some other address?

You made an interesting point so I tried to order a baby monitor from my kindle fire . A screen came up asking for my password .I have also ordered books for my Kindle and they are just downloaded instantly . I do get an email mentioning the order in case it was a mistake . IMO the kindle fire is a great gadget .

Thanks, Moemg. That's what I was hoping to hear!

Can most Android apps be downloaded onto the Kindle Fire? I visited the Kindle Fire spot on Amazon, read some reviews, and am unsure as they refer to both apps at the Kindle store and side-loaded apps. Thanks !

Most android apps can be downloaded . Go to Amazon and check out the app store not the ones specific to kindle just the regular app store . They also offer a free app everyday .

You do have a password on your Kindle Fire, I hope?

I do not think it has to be a very strong password as probably the only entry method is mechanical. And the Kindle Fire is linked to your account so it might not be useful to a theif. Also you could notify Amazon should it be stolen, so little time for a thief to go through lots of password combos.

I use BoA ShopSafe with my Kindle Fire. I set up a card with a low initial amount to see how much my husband would spend. I will adjust this to fit his usage. Only the part of Amazon that runs the Kindle accounts can charge to this card. A regular Amazon purchase would be denied on the card. Right now someone can steal a max of $87 from me buying only Kindle related items.
