Part of the reason I take the tastier route is that it makes compliance easier.

I rather enjoy the taste of Metamucil. Each to his own. I am happy that it is good for me.

I LOVE the taste of Metamucil. Especially the orange flavored kind. My DH thinks I'm nuts.

That's the flavor I have on my shelf. Good stuff.

Yep, wahoo is unusually quiet today...

I've been spending 12 hour days helping paint the house daughter #1 just purchased and is moving into later this week.

Back on topic (sort of): Tylenol, and lots of it.... :p

Cutthroat has a young attractive wife. I think I spotted a case of viagra next to his "wine rack".

Didn't see any Viagra. But it did look like he had half dozen loaves of wheat bread.... 8)

OK. You love orange-flavored metamucil, but you don't like Australian wine. I finally see where you're coming from. :)

I tried glucosamine & chondroitin. It does work but it takes time to build up in your system before you feel any benefits + during your initial phase you take more than the maint. phase which stinks b/c of the horse pill size. I have since quit.

I've been debating taking both of these supplements. I'm a little paranoid of putting anything in my system. Did you do a lot of research on this? How long was the initial phase? How much did you take? Costco seems to have a good deal on this, so I might pick up a bottle next time.

Did you quit taking it because your joints were OK or because you got sick of taking all those pills?

Thanks.

Gluco/Chond does work but it takes about 2-3 months before it builds up in your system, i.e. before you start to feel the benefits.  For example, my knees felt a lot better whenever I had to crouch down to pick stuff up back when I had a job that required standing for long hours.  I did some research and quite a few M.D.s recommend using it as well.  From what I know Gluco can be found naturally in some foods like catfish but not in a large enough quantity to do much good.  Additionally, I felt no side effects at all.

The good thing is the prices have come down considerably but I quit because I got tired of taking the pills + I went back to school and quit my job so I didn't spend as much time standing/bending etc.  I am not always good about stuff like that but if you take a multi on a regular basis I doubt it will bother you much once the initial phase is over.

Those NIH studies on Glucosamine that I referenced above haven't been published yet, but apparently some details were leaked at a conference:

Article

Summary: Combination glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate is effective in treating moderate to severe knee pain due to osteoarthritis

I have had foot surgery a number of times to remove some bone between the great toe joint and the foot. The cartilage in those joints is almost gone now and my Dr. suggested taking Gluc./Chon. combo to help grow more of the stuff. I keep hoping it will work to avoid an artifical joint there. :p

What, you don't look forward to the comedy value of explaining to the minimum wage TSA screeners at the airport for the umpteenth time that you REALLY do have a steel toe and that there is no reason for a full body cavity search?? :)
