I saw a thread on best/worst concerts, but thought I'd try one on recent concerts, maybe to alert people to who's touring now or what may be new and worthwhile (or bad and to be avoided).

Was in Vegas, staying at Caesars. Much to my surprise and delight, The Who was appearing. Super great concert. Daltry's voice has faded a little, but still pretty good. The drummer truly is Keith Moon reincarnated. 2 solid hours with no warmup band. Pete Townsend said, before they played Baba O Reilly (teenage wasteland), that there's a commercial using that song. Every time it's played he makes $650. And they play it a lot. So, he's touring, not because he needs to, but because he wants to. No FIRE for him.
 
Garth Brooks. Kansas City Sprint Center. Row 6. Probably the best concert ever. May 2017.

DGF said 'If Garth ever comes to MSP, we should go see him". I looked up the tickets, and scheduled a road trip. Two nights hotel, and a sight-seeing trip in Kansas City.

I could have never done this if I was still working without taking vacation or making it a fast paced trip.
Headed to Toby Keith at the MN State Fair on 8/27 and CountryFest next summer.

Have seen Heart, Cheap Trick and Joan Jett last summer. Great show.

We have Styx, REO Speedwagon and Don Felder here in about 3 weeks.

We see local bands too but really enjoy seeing the band's from the past. My first concert was ZZTop, and I saw them again a few summers ago-38 years later. Band fully intact and still going strong.

I have a list of bands I have tried to make sure and see, (or see again) as these folks are getting older and we lose a few each year.

Last one was the best. The Stones at Arrowhead. Ed Sheeran opened.
 
Funny, the FIRST concert of major players I saw was the Who, who opened for the Buckinghams! We left after the Who, probably 1968? Anyway, last was Grateful Dead with John Mayer.
 
So far this summer we've seen Sheryl Crow / Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real (Wilie Nelson's son, very enjoyable show), OneRepublic / Fitz & The Tantrums / James Arthur (another excellent show) Stephen Stills and Judy Collins (you need to be a fan), The Temptations / The Beach Boys (not a fan, free tickets, fans seemed to enjoy). Next up is Santana, then Stevie Nicks, then National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela with Gustavo Dudamel.
 
DW and I have just returned home from a 12-month drive around North America, and one of the last things we did on that trip was see Iron Maiden in Salt Lake City. Our sixth Maiden concert, the first being in 1985 when we were dating. I am so much older now than the band was then!
 
Recent concerts include: Steely Dan, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, and Santana. Best concert ever was ZZ Top at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in 1981.
 
Last night Dark Star Orchestra to celebrate Jerrys 75th.
Four and a half hour show. They sound better than the Dead did the last few times I saw them
They were DGFs favorite Dead cover band and she shared Jerrys birthday.
Two weeks ago was Roger Waters Us and Them tour. Good lights and music. Many people complaining about the political overtones on the way out.
I'd recommend either show.
 
Saw The Revolution (Prince's old band) a few weeks ago at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Got my free poster on the way out (they hand out free custom posters after many of the shows there). I hardly ever go to shows, but my SO gets free tickets, and bugs me to accompany her. Occasionally I give in, and almost enjoy myself :LOL:

Living in New Orleans, we hear free live music at bars, restaurants, street corners, parks, nearly everywhere. Most of the musicians are unknowns outside the local area but often they are really outstanding. So anyway, going to concerts seems a little redundant to us. We haven't been to any in decades, and have no desire to attend one.
 
We go out to parks and music venues to hear local bands pretty often. We especially like the tribute bands. We saw one tribute band called Boys of Summer who cover music from the Eagles and thought they were great. Napa Live was a fun music crawl with 90 local bands - all pretty good. I won tickets to see The Platters. Coming up we've got tickets to see Puddle of Mudd.

This summer the bigger concerts we've been to have been REO Speedwagon / Styx / Don Felder and Third Eye Blind / Silversun Pickups.
 
We're going to see a local orchestra outdoors tonight! We go see local bands, orchestras, etc. locally often.

But our last big name concert was Billy Joel at Wrigley Field last August. Outstanding! We're overdue to go see another big name concert, but we've been spending our entertainment $ on stage plays more lately.
 
We saw Tears for Fears with Hall & Oates a couple of weeks ago. It was a bit odd to have two groups that are usually headliners playing their full sets and doing encores, but both were quite good.

Earlier that week, we happened to be on the ferry and heard Air Supply playing at an outdoor venue we were passing. I hadn't heard those songs in years, and it was like taking a quick trip right back to high school!
 
We saw Norah Jones a couple of months ago. I have been a huge fan for a long time and I was thrilled to see her live!

Last year " the Boss" came to town! Great concert (I had seen him live in Seattle in the mid-80ies on his "Born to run" tour). The guy still has 100% energy - went 2 1/2 h without a break

Since Senator mentioned countrymusic: I visited the originalGrand 'Ol Opry in downtown Nashville some years ago and saw some of the legends such as Porter Wagoner, etc but also a (then) 18 year old Catherine Britt. She completely blew me away -check her out!
 
Possibly best concert was Robin Trower at the Houston Coliseum(?). Most recent concert was NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quartet) but I saw them on TV, not live. They have a nice "sound". I had heard "of" them before, but never actually heard one of their songs until the TV concert.
 
Last big name concert was Santana and Rod Stewart. Free tickets.
Carlos was fantastic. He can still play with the best. Also, smart enough to give the vocals to the band ( his son, I think).

Rod Stewart was a bomb. Voice was shot and he even apologized.

Most of the time we see local cover bands. 4 and 20 is a local tribute band playing CSN&Y. Vocals by Scott Nienhaus are probably better than the real band. Well, maybe.

Matchbox 20 w/Counting Crows opening

Roger Waters was the best show I've been to. Amazing production, possibly better than The Wall. Not a good show for Trump fans tho.

Journey was also REALLY good. Would see again.

Matchbox 20 put on a good show, as did Counting Crows. But not at the same level as the other two.
 
My first concert was Kiss and their opening act was AC/DC. It was in Louisville, KY and the tickets were $14.50.

My most recent concert was Charli XCX at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C.
 
Diana Krall at the Brit in Jacksonville, Oregon. Amazing, wonderful concert in an incredibly beautiful open air venue. She's quite a performer and must have liked the vibes because she was kind to give us encore after encore. Magical.
