Has anyone heard from Brewer1234? He hasn't posted since August. Hoping he's just taking time off like some others on this forum.

I just pm'd brewer to see if he's at least watching the forum.

I miss him too and worry about the Colorado fires impacting him.

Just looked, Brewer12345 last post was 8/11/20... His last logon was N/A...

Due to COVID changing the tone of the forum,I've noticed more then a few regular posters have gone AWOL...if any of you are reading this, you have been missed and I hope you will return someday. I've PM a couple of them myself to share that feeling.

If it helps we had a regular fight about vegan/meat today which felt almost normal.

I hear he is in D.C. , in interviews, being vetted for Treasury Secretary next year.

Really no idea. Try sending a PM

He is still out there.... He responded to a PM that I sent.

It is really too bad. We've lost some excellent members due to the way the forum has changed. One went out with a blast of a thread.

Since I learned how to mute the COVID area (or any other specific forum) I've been much happier. Not that I was about to leave but COVID was overwhelming the rest of the feed. Now if I'm interested I simply go directly to that forum.

Currently there are 35,073 members. Everyone's searching for Covid info and I bet this forum gets more traffic even from non-members than pre-Covid.

I value the community feel on these pages and miss the regular members that have left. If someone joins here looking for COVID porn in my book that's a fail.

Is your reference to Covid and indirect politics?
The blast of the thread appeared to be a different issue.

I specifically avoid the Covid Containment area. There might be some good info in there, just seems like a lot of other stuff to wade through for snippets of good stuff.

The thread was titled something like: "Too sickened by Coronavirus to continue". So, yeah, the reference was Covid.

Okay, I was thinking of a different frequent poster who quit posting.

I turned off the covid subject months ago but it seems like the amount of useful content that remains is shrinking. And maybe that's because some of the most valuable posters have moved on. I hope it gets back on track as the forum has been of huge value to me for many years. Certainly YMMV.

I find nothing unusual about posters leaving the forum.

I've been a member here for more than 18 years and I've seen an untold number of members come and go. The reasons are as varied as are human personalities and I stopped speculating long ago about why people leave or trying to assign blame for their departure. We will rarely learn the root cause - other than for a few. RIP Khan, imoldernu, Rich-in-Tampa and all the other deceased E-R members.

me too I thought he just quit posting..

Same. Shoot.

I know for myself, the amount of time I spend here varies greatly over time, depending on what else is going on in my life (including where I am in the grading cycle for a term).

I found myself getting more and more aggravated over the COVID section, so severely reduced my exposure (pun intended) to er.org for awhile. Now I mostly just avoid those threads (except for the good news thread which even there gets polluted with non-good news and continual "the world is gonna end" posts).

Hopefully, brewer will reappear. I really appreciated his posts, especially during the financial crisis days when I was hunting for preferred's and bonds that I thought would survive the crisis.

Peace to all of you.
