My DW goes on medicare Oct 1st. For her we are going with Plan G at just under $90 mo.
Looked at F HD but is was only $24 mo. less or $504 per year and opened us up to the $2200 deductible limit. $504 premium cost plus $183 Part B deductible means plan G would cost $687 per year to "insure" against $2200 potential OOP
Regular Dr. visits, lab tests, etc. typically run a few hundred per year now even at negotiated rates so the "savings" even in a "healthy" year is probably only $300 - $400 so "breakeven" for F HD would need 5-6 healthy years for every 1 bad year.
