There are a great number of threads that discuss the decision for medical cost between ER and when medicare becomes available. Since I've been trying counsel my sons, who are facing this, I found this short, simple Forbes article helpful and going beyond single instance explanations. Not only for medicare, but other ER decisions.

I wish I had known about this when we retired early, as we spent more than we should have/could have, in the interim.

The title of the article is “5 Reasons to Think Twice About Early Retirement”. The 5 reasons are:

- What about medical insurance?
- How much can you spend?
- When will you begin Social Security?
- How will you replace work?
- What is your margin of error?
