Once had a surgeon tell me "When you are a hammer every problem looks like a nail" meaning he could fix my problem with surgery but he gave me an Rx instead.

It's wonderful to encounter a doctor so self-aware and patient oriented. Lots of them are like that. A few of them are not. Each of us must be our own advocate and advocate for others (like partners/kids/parents, etc.) YMMV
