Been there, done that  (well, not escorting you, and it wasn't a Stop sign, it was a guide wire on a lamppost - knocked me flat on my back )

Heh, heh, heh...I predicted this response even as I was writing my post! :2funny: I just knew you'd have a story to share!

Last week I didn't post because... I forgot. And because I gained 2.5 lbs. First time since starting WW in December. I knew the day would come -- I've been on the program, was on-points, exercising, etc. So I wasn't terribly worried, but it's not very inspirational to do the work and see the scale tilt up.

Yesterday, though -- lost that 2.5 lbs and another 1.1 on top of that -- and hit the 20 lb milestone. Yay!

Goal this week is to have four solid workouts in the week. Had one Tuesday, will have one tomorrow, and hope for one Saturday and one Sunday. If I can swing a fifth (Monday), I'll be thrilled (my weight-loss week is Tuesday to Monday).

Congrats on the BP, Alan, and welcome back, W2R!

Thanks, Urchina!

I didn't post yesterday because I had eaten Chinese the day before and was afraid to weigh myself. :2funny: But the scales are always there so this morning I guiltily weighed and found I was down despite everything. Whew! What a nice surprise. I don't usually lose this much weight (and I haven't been this virtuous, sort of haphazardly following Weight Watchers) so some of it has to be that kind of water weight that one usually loses the first week or two. Still, I am SO happy to see it go. :D

week | date | D lbs | D lbs total

2 | Mar 17 | - 1.8 | - 8.4

Alan, I missed that your BP was down. That is wonderful! One of my goals is to eventually get off the BP meds that I had to start last September. I did notice that you are still exercising a lot as well as watching your weight, and that is so admirable.

Happy2bretired and Urchina, congratulations on your great losses this week! And the same to others who lost. :flowers:

First of all, congrats to you and Urchina and others on your weight loss this week.

On the bp thing, I had a friend at work in the office opposite for the last 18 months (so we talked a lot), and he had an excellent bp story. He is aged 60 and had been on bp meds for about a year and because of me, he started exercising again for the first time in many years. He was mainly using the elliptical trainer, and we talked heart rates, recovery heart rates etc, and after only a few months he was able to stop his meds, and he had been off them about 6 months when I RE'd.

So, it's definitely possible to kick that drug habit of yours ;)

Well, you are down for 6.5lbs for the year and only 5lbs from your target so you are not doing too bad :)

I weigh each morning and post the Wednesday figure here, unless I know I'm going away. This last 2 days I have weighed in on my target at 175, so it is very tempting to "go out of town" tomorrow......

Maybe I should tape my mouth shut this evening and take some laxatives ;)

Great minds think alike. I have been so "virtuous" all week, and so far it appears I may have gained anyway. :( But the week isn't over until tomorrow morning, so there is still hope.

On the other hand, we did have Chinese for lunch....

Yep, last weeks loss was only water weight. Oh well, I feel like that I've pretty much accomplished what I wanted to by getting down to my current level, give or take a couple of pounds. Now, I'm hoping to maintain. IF I continue losing, that would be great, but, no problem if I just maintain. I just don't want to gain.

Darn, was down 2 pounds a couple of days ago, oh well - next week I'll see it.

Great work everyone! 90% of success at weight loss is just showing up.

Since I have stayed within or below my allotted Weight Watchers points all week, I can only conclude that my gain is due to the Chinese food yesterday. :(

When I started weight lifting last year (no, I'm not doing it now...to darn busy and tired!), I gained weight right away, too. I think it's due to extra water retention related to the inflammation caused by muscle injury. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Feel free to borrow it. :)

Now, I'm hoping to maintain. IF I continue losing, that would be great, but, no problem if I just maintain. I just don't want to gain.

Congrats and welcome to the maintenance club! Quite challenging, but this list really helps!

Couldn't agree more!

Happy with my weigh in!

Up 1/2 a pound from last week. I'm on-plan, so not terribly worried. I figure that the easy weight is gone and from now on it's going to be a slow downhill slope. OK by me, so long as downhill is the direction it's going!

But I sprained my ankle Thursday, and so exercise isn't going to be happening for awhile. Well, aerobic exercise. I might take this opportunity to do some weightlifting.

Sorry to hear about your ankle, take care of it, ankles can take a long time to heal. We were shopping and DW was giving me a hard time at the pharmacy section as I was there ages before coming away with a wrist brace, knee supports and ankle strapping :D Along with my back brace it takes me a good ten minutes these days immediately before going out to play tennis :ROFLMAO:

Ok, I am ready to join back in. I used to post on this thread regularly, however every week it was a weight gain rather than a loss. I was tired of my complaining, so figured everyone else would be so I dropped out.

Anyway sometime later I have some answers. A bit of background, in 2009 I gained 13 lbs, in 2008 it must have been another 10 and so on. In 2005 I was a size 6, in 2009 I was up to a size 12 and growing. None of this was making sense to me as I was exercising and watching calories. Went to the Dr, first Dr refused to run any tests, told me all I needed to do was go camping for 10 days and everything would be ok. Needless to say I didn't go back. In Jan went to another Dr who my internet research indicated was very highly regarded. Wonderful woman who actually listened to everything I said. Bottom line is my thyroid was not functioning properly and I have low testoterone which can result in less muscle tone more fat. Am on medication for both. So my 2010 weight loss results are as follows:

2 Jan 157.8 lbs
6 Feb 153.0 lbs (4.8 lbs)
6 Mar 151.4 lbs (1.6 lbs - total 6.4 lbs)
29 Mar 149.4 lbs (2.0 lbs - total 8.4 lbs)

My first goal was to crack 150 by the end of March which I have achieved.
My second goal is to crack 145 by my birthday early May.
Third goal is to crack 140 by the end of Q2 30 June.
Fourth goal is to crack 130 by the end of Q3 30 September.

I am not dieting per se. I am eating a lot of fish and veg. Leaving pasts and breads alone as much as possible. I think there may be something in the low carb diet for me. Keeping chocolates out of the house so there is no temptation.

I have been working out on my treadmill and going for hikes. I am going to throw in some cycling as well.

I am feeling positive about losing weight for the first time in ages. I was excited to be down 8lbs, started trying on my size 10 clothes, however I think it is going to be another 10lbs before I can even consider those items fitting. I still look like a squeezed sausage.

.

Welcome back and so glad that you found a medical solution to a good part of your weight gain. You have made great progress already!

I'm sorta eating like you are too. I'm leaving bread and pasta pretty much alone. I eat Rye Crisps for my bread and not much at that. However, I am NOT leaving chocolate alone. I have my daily allotment of dark choco chips.

I'm trying to maintain right now even though I'm still a size 12, I think that's a good size range for me.:greetings10::greetings10:

Welcome back to the forum DM, I look forward to seeing your progress
