Feel Like a Fool and It's My Own Fault ...

I haven't been following this thread in detail but I did laugh at this one. I spent 30 years making suboptimal investment moves, though we did make money. What I tell people that I learned from that is:

The more I play with my food, the less food I seem to have.

People do not think of it as playing with their food.

Rather, they are afraid that if they do not eat their food now, it will turn moldy. :)

Anybody else in here been as foolish as us and had to postpone FIRE?

Sure, I've been a fool, but I only risk/bet 20% of my portfolio, and have a risk appetite of only 5% for each individual...which only leaves me limited options but limited risk.

I would never under diversify into a single equity that is more than 5% of my portfolio...with one exception...AAPL. That is ~$10% of our portfolio and DW is comfortable with that risk.

For the rest of my 80-100% of my portfolio I buy the entire market in growth ETFs...sure they might slow, but my risk appetite can call for an all growth mix vs some value.

Good luck on the recovery...sometimes a cold shower and a long walk with some soul searching helps ER.org keeps my AA, and my gambling in check. :greetings10:
