Any experience with TAP Air Portugal?

We are planning a fall trip to Italy and the fares offered by this airline are in the "too good to be true" category.

Any firsthand intel on flying them?

Flown TAP a number of times....steerage......they suit us. Oftentimes there's a stopover (of varying durations) in Lisbon but it's never bothered us.

(Have you checked out Turkish Airlines too?)

Some say they are often late and cancel flights frequently.
Our return flight from Lisbon to Dus in Oct. was 24 hours late. Make sure to have all necessary stuff in hand luggage.
Our claim for compensation finally was approved though.

Mentioned this to DW....she was quite surprised, said we'd flown them 5 or 6 times and that we'd never been delayed or cancelled......luck of the draw I guess......was your delay weather related?

We have done three TAP flights within Europe. All were economy. Flights were fine, nothing special. Planes fairly new, pleasant flight crew, on time departures/arrivals.

We have been watching their transatlantic fares from Toronto. If the timing works this fall and TAP’s pricing is good we would not hesitate to book.

@Nemo2:
Weather was fine. Airport was busy, but other airlines flew.
The plane already came in from Morocco 2 hours late, turnaround time was too short I guess. So they could not leave LIS in time to come in at DUS before closing.
Flightradar24.de provides some data and opinions on performance.
