New Places to see in Vegas?

We are visiting Vegas Next month & staying in Mirage. Does anyone know any good places to visit & any reasonably priced shows to watch? We don't gamble much, so winning is out of question. Any good place to eat lunch buffet?
We will appreciate your input.

Whatever you do, I would suggest that you NOT stop by the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop----made famous in the History Channel program----Pawn Stars. I did----went out of the way to make the stop----and it is an absolute tourist trap!

One good show to watch, and you won't have to go far since it's at the Mirage, is the Beatles Love show.

I have also heard Beatles Love is very good, so my GF and I are going to it over Easter. I have heard the Belligio buffet is very good, and the real "economical" people will go in before 3:30 and pay the $23 lunch price ,and sip on their drink until 4 and eat the dinner buffet at lunch price. You have to be willing to eat at the "blue hair" dinner time though! Trip Advisor under the Las Vegas forum will have all sorts of great info for you to read. I go out there all the time, but my specialty unfortunately is sportsbooks and free beer.

Just walk around the new Aria complex at night. $8 Billion and counting on this development! It is spectacular and well done for Vegas that prides itself on copying everything from elsewhere.

After, a drink in the 11th floor bar in the Mandarin Hotel has an excellent view!

Also, the view from the top floor bar at THE Hotel (part of the Mandalay Bay development) is excellent also.

The best is to leave Vegas and drive around some of the great parks, like Fire Canyon or Red Rocks, if you haven't seen the desert type landscape. A convertible would be best...

DW and I got tickets to Lion King (@ Mandalay Bay) at 1/2 price thru Travelzoo. It was excellent. Also saw Jersey Boys at Palazio--was much better than I expected.

Although it's WAY WAY down, the "M" had an incredible buffet. But it's probably 10 miles down LV Blvd. My in-laws live there (Vegas) and they told us about it.

And +1 on Gold and Silver Pawn Shop. Definitely not worth your time at all.

My friend's granddaughter insisted they go there, and my friend said it was a tiny little place and she saw nothing there worth seeing. She said they have one aisle to go up in and another to go down in. She surely was not impressed at all.

You have to admire the owners' incredible knowledge and contacts they have there to exam items that are really obscure anyway. I love the show for the information and history you learn.

Just back after 4 nights in Vegas. Saw 4 shows. 1) Jubilee; 2) Donny and Marie (WAY better than I thought it would be) ,3) Blue Man Group and 4) La Reve. We got 1/2 price or discount tickets for every show.Each was fantastic and entertaining in their own way. I recommend them all

Can't help too much on food as we were there for shows and side trips.Ate mostly fast food; no gambling; Casino Royale (near Ballys) has $1 Margaritas if that helps : )

Don't even get me started on the bus tip to the Grand Canyon South Rim. A trip I will remember for a long time (so spectacular). The Hoover Dam bus trip was great too.

My wife and I came home with bulging suitcases (the outlet mall prices had truly unbelievable prices for us)

Time to rest up for our next trip!

I saw the Beatles LOVE show not once, but twice. If you like the Beatles music, you'll love it. I saw it once when I was there on a girls' weekend, and had to go back with DH because he's such a Beatles fan.

If you'd like stuff to do that isn't gambling or show related I would recommend you check out the CSI Experience at the MGM. You solve a crime using CSI tools and information: http://www.mgmgrand.com/entertainment/csi-the-experience.aspx

Also recommend the BODIES exhibit at the Luxor. It is human bodies that have been preserved in a way that is unbelievable until you see it. There are seven different rooms and each room depicts a portion of the body; skeleton, muscles, nerves, etc. If you do this one don't bother with the audio add-on. There is nothing additional in the audio that isn't written on the placards. And a word of warning, it is real tissues that you can get within inches of... husband got a bit light headed. Also I would not take children unless they're teenagers and are really into science.

Last, the Titanic exhibit, also at the Luxor, is fascinating.

and a bit on food. Unless you're a foodie and have a specific restaurant that you know you want to experience, skip the 'high end' restaurants in the big hotels. (One example is Mesa Grill, which is Bobby Flay's restaurant. It gets generally bad reviews.)

DH took me out for Valentine's day dinner. We went to the 'best' restaurant in the Bellagio. Wine was $20/glass and dinner set up back $210. His steak was just ok and my short ribs were edible but nothing special. I can cook far better food at home.

However, if you do want to eat for less money go to Tix4Tonight. You can get 50% off coupons for a lot of restaurants (Benihana for example). The cost for the 50% off coupon is typically $2 - $3.

Check out the Ferrari dealership in the Winn Hotel but leave your cheque book at home!

Also check out the Brazilian restaurant in the Mirage. Great food!

The breakfast buffet is also very good at the TI next door. Its not the biggest but the food is great.

Definitely take a helicopter ride down the canyon but check first as some of the companies operate out of airports that are 1 hour away by bus!!!

We just drove by it a few weeks ago on the request of our daughter. At 12:30 on a Friday afternoon, there was a line of people waiting outside to get in - must have been 50 people in line! We couldn't stop laughing.

Yes, I agree. Hoover Dam is a "must see". You can also walk on the new bridge across the river to get good view of the Dam.

Tix4tonite has same day discount tickets for up to 50% off. They do not do online sales you'll have to go to their kiosks for tickets but they have kiosks in several strip locations. You can go to tix4tonite.com to find their locations.

We were in Las Vegas from Tuesday to Saturday and while we had absolutely no trouble getting great seats during the week the people getting tickets Saturday morning had long line ups. We were able to get discounted Blue Man group tickets for the Thursday night 10 PM show at about 9:30 PM the same evening of the show although these were bought at the Venetian itself.

M Resort started a program just last 2/16. If you are 50 or older, dinner buffet is 50% on Wednesdays. We went there last Wednesday but quickly left after we saw the looong line. We were there at 7PM. Perhaps, if we went earlier, the line would have been shorter.
