Hi all,

This is an informational poll only.

Please do not, do not, turn it into "what workplaces *should* do". I am only interested in what workplaces *are* doing.

Please check each box that applies to your workplace if they have a requirement in that area.

I am curious what employers are doing.

Thank you.

Workplace? What's that?

No idea what my old workplace is requiring. Can't even ask my old boss as he [-]was escorted to the parking lot[/-] retired a month before I did.

Based on the photo he sent me yesterday, looks like his current "requirement" involves watching your step...very carefully.

Voted "other" because my w*rkplace (Retirement Place) is my home and there are no requirements as we are both fully vaccinated. We do not invite folks over if they are not fully vaccinated.

"W*rk" being attending to home maintenance and repairs.

What about "staying remote" - most big places that can, are, at least the ones my friends tell me about.

It's all really not something we can poll effectively, because geography and function are a thing. If you are a car manufacturing plant or sales dealership, you have to be in person. But if you're a tech office, or a call center, you don't.

State and local guidelines are also a factor, which we know vary widely throughout the country, never mind the rest of the world. I'm sure Canada and the UK are very different but have their own variety too.

I was looking at the jobs listed on the website of a private 9-12 boarding and day school in NJ. They are requiring vaccinations for employment.

My old work place has locked doors but can do business through phone and private meeting. That is what I been told and have social distancing in office building.

I no longer have a workplace. But I called the old workplace a few weeks ago and found that they have no requirements. Some people are still working from home like they have for the past 18 months. Receptionist comes in every workday to answer phones, get the mail, etc. sometimes other office people come in, sometimes they don’t. Field surveyors just work outside like they always have.

Now that’s how to enjoy retirement!

This is a retirement forum:confused: And I'm not going to call my old workplace to ask about Covid rules...

Have a part-time (post-retirement) job at a rock quarry and asphalt concrete hot plant. There are zero COVID accommodations in the quarry. The plant keeps making small rocks out of big ones, mixes in a healthy amount of hot asphalt and sends on out to a road construction project near you … just like before the COVID pandemic hit.

Rock on ….

Bingo. At an early retirement forum, how many participants even have a w*rkplace? :greetings10:

Really, people?

I joined this forum in 2006 but didn't retire until 2016 (when I retired at age 46, so still FIRE).

Plenty of people here who aren't retired, or who consider themselves retired but have a job for fun or extra income or to keep engaged or while waiting for a partner to retire or whatever.

Just some light-hearted fun. No criticism intended.

I did not answer the questionnaire because I don't have a workplace. I used to work in a hospital. I would have checked all of the above except social distancing. Our group's lone secretarial staff started working from home in March 2020, and has no reason to return to the office. DS is currently employed by my former employer.

I'm curious what falls into the "other" category. For those who chose that, what is your job doing besides the other things listed?

In-person attendance is optional for everyone - and nearly noone is going into my office. It’s a brutal commute costing alot of daily time and money, so why bother. For those that choose to go in, masks are required if not vaccinated. This is on your honor - but a conduct violation if not compliant. No idea how that would be discovered or enforced, but it’s always nice to see another thing being weaponized by the company.

Also, doing contact tracing, based on reported positive cases, which are also on your honor.

CRP. aka farming. So any workplace requirements are set by me - IF I use temp. or contract help. So I mask in buildings but do not require anyone else - usually one or two for brief periods to hook up stuff.

Outside - no requirements.

Heh heh heh - Most help is young and strong and usually on a tractor. ;)

Was talking about this with a nephew we visited this weekend. He is vaccinated (not required yet) but has to do 2x week testing. He also has to mask. He is an electrician/gaffer which was hit hard by covid last year (tv/movie productions shut down hard - and mitigation had to be put back in place before they could start up productions).

My son works for a national grocery chain. He's vaxed (don't know if they've mandated it yet). He has to mask. Temp checks happen. If you have the sniffles or a cough you have to go home until you can produce a negative test. (He missed a week of work because their system to get tested was broken so he finally got tested by the county.) I've sent him a text to see if they are considering vax requirements.

My workplace require masks and vaccine and testing, but I work in a hospital so my vote really isn't indicative of the average workplace.

Just heard back from the son that works at the grocery store. They give employees a one time vax bonus. He collected that a while back. It's not required, but *strongly* encouraged. FWIW, it's a union workplace - which may be a factor in requiring/not requiring.

OMG that’s a really big one!

I am retired. I found no other answer for the question that would possibly fit me and all retired folks except "Other". There was no choice explicity labelled "Retired", or even any choice for "Not Applicable". So, it was "Other".

I assumed at an early retirement forum, the deduction would be made that many many of the readers would in fact be retired, and did not think those folks were intended to be excluded from this poll.
