Sarah--as one of the board's resident cat fans, I thought you might have some perspective on my cat question.
We have a 5 yo orange boy who is a rescued farm cat. I have noticed the last couple times when we have boarded him he has kinda gone zombie when we pick him up, especially if it is over a week. His boarding facility is at a vets and includes a viewing window to the outside and we leave his bed and food.
I have read that is just what cats do and not to be concerned. We have a couple major trips coming up, one 3 weeks and one 6. I have been looking at boarding options which offer bigger quarters including a couple with a kitty room. Only issue is the price which at best would be $25/night vs the 16 we now pay. Willing to do if it really would benefit his well being.

Hi Sarah,
I just stumbled upon your message about my former career (from about a month ago). I lived/worked in SC for a few years back in the late 80s -- Sumter NF (lived near Columbia). I did enjoy most of my career which allowed me to move around the country over the years but was glad to be able to get out fairly early. Thanks for the note......Greg
