I read OAP posts about his cable and remembered seeing this website on the news: http://www.gethuman.com/
I haven't tried it out yet, but supposedly you dial the number they have listed for the particular company and it bypasses the menu and sends your call straight to a real person.
Disclaimer: The service rep might be from outside the US and speak little english. Which in some cases is worst than the menu options.
