I have enjoyed reading the posts on this site and finally decided to join. My wife and myself are 54 years old. My wife retired six years ago to become a full time grandma. I will probably work for many years to come because I like what I do. Even though I may not be a very early retiree I have learned much from this forum that will help in the future when I decide to take the plunge. I look forward to learning much more in the future. Thanks to all who make this site so entertaining and educational.

My brother and myself own a business that our father started. While there are days I am ready to join my wife there are other days that provide challenges that keep life interesting.
As I said previously I have leaned many things while lurking. Before reading funny joke Thursday I was not aware what part wheat bread played in a successful retirement plan.
The thing I like about this forum is that the people who post here appear to be more relaxed compared to other forums. Thanks again.

More power to you, Mike....my grandfather started a company, passed it down to his son, and my father expected myself and my brother to continue. I'm here along with my brother, but am in the process of calling it quits from the industry - too many reasons: family dynamics, employees' union, suppliers, our "customers" (general contractors), etc., etc.. Thank God that you and your brother are able to keep it going. I used to see other family business split apart, and I'd think "why couldn't they just stick it out and work things through?" Now, I realize that it isn't always so easy.
