im looking for ideas for 1 etf that runs the entire us market gamet.... now heres the catch though.. i want one with a little more balance paid to the rest of the market rather than dominated by the big caps. i had VTI and it performed almost the same as ivv the s&p index.

im thinking maybe tmw ... it follows the wilshire 5000 and may offer greater plays in the mid and small so its not like owning an s&p index fund in performance. hows the wilshire weighted?

Sorry, buy the Wilshire 5000 is cap weighted. I only know of one equal weighted ETF, RSP [equal weighted S&P 500 index].

thats what i thought..... it would be nice having one fund that does it all with out being buried under the s&p 500 and controlled by it.

WisdomTree has ETFs weighted by earnings and dividends, but a company will not show up in their indices if they have no earnings or dividends.

There are also ETFs that are weighted on fundamental factors (Global Investing With PowerShares Fundamental Index Funds - Seeking Alpha), but you'll have to do the research to find out if these are right for you.

I don't own any WisdomTree or fundamental-weighted ETFs right now (but I might at some point in the future).
