Is it worth saving the $300 or so to buy used? I know Amazon puts a guarantee on their sales, but anyone have an experience (good or bad) they can share?

I'm now on my second refurbished portable DVD player (first one still works, but I wanted one with longer battery life). I also have a Nook eReader that I bought from B&N refurbished, also with no problems.
However, I would not buy a refurbished computer. Right or wrong, I don't trust refurbished computers (Ditto for TV's).

I have bought used electronics.

My experience is that everything works just fine and I have never had a problem. Often you don't get the original packing material and box. Sometimes you don't get the setup instructions. In that case you need just go online to get everything you need.

Like new cars, you pay a big premium for that new car smell.

I am looking at a plasma tv.......

I tried unsuccessfully to buy a used LG smartphone through Amazon. Then ad said in-stock and 5 day delivery. No word--not even an e-mail--for 4 weeks then, 'Sorry--out-of-stock'.

Flaky.
