Did you just Google something like "Early Retirement Forum"? Did you read about this site from either another website or literature? Did someone you know tell you about it?

I know I heard about this site from a magazine, but unfortunately don't remember which one. It's been so long ago but I'm glad I found this site.

I read a post about it on a financial forum (the old "Vanguard Diehards" forum at the Morningstar website).

Nords turned me on to this, over at RADDR's website.

It was mentioned by a regular poster at a San Diego centric economics/real estate blog called piggingtons. I'd already been on the preparation path for ER - but coming here I learned more/better ways to figure out how to retire early.

By searching for "safe withdrawal rate", I found FIRECalc, then this forum.

A Google search on "frugal living" or some such phrase.

Google led me to here. I probably was searching "early retirement."

Wlat34, you were scary before. With that new avatar, I am terrified. Hopefully, come November 1st, you will shed the avatar?

I found the link in a personal finance book, can't remember which one.

I googled the name of that guy who sells the "bucket strategy" at his seminars. One of the results led here and I liked what I found.

Yes, that's just a Halloween gag. Actually it was something I'd read about on a Photoshop page a few years ago and I did it to an image of one of the grandnieces, intending to send it to her parents. DW was horrified at the thought so I did it to myself.

You probably can't see it in the avatar because it's so small but the pupils are a grisly green, lots of ugly red veins in the whites, and the pupils are now shaped like cat's eyes. Pretty cool effect!

November 1 the inverted airplane goes back up. I wasn't in the airplane but I did take the photo.

It's been a while and I really don't remember, but probably a search while still working. I read for a while, then got up the nerve to join. Then I got up the nerve to actually post.

Participating in my year's "Class of..." thread made me feel accepted, so don't be shy about yours.

I was Googling "early retirement" in 2006 and found the Retire Early Home Page, which led me to FireCalc and to this site.

Searched something along the lines of retirement planning and wound up here. I had just finished paying off my student loans and wanted to get a new game plan set up before all that free cash flow started getting spent on frivolous things.

Similar time here. I was on that rarely used website for a while before someone pointed me here in 2009.

Motley Fool Early Retirement Forum, thence to Early Retirement Home Page, thence to here.

Yahoo search for "Early Retirement" led me here, FIRECalc and the helpful and wise forum members make me stay. :)

Somehow stumbled across the iPhone app. Did not use for awhile then only off and on. The people here are incredibly smart and down to earth. I now believe this is probably the best financial and just plain how to live life data source available.

Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum

A Scott Burns newspaper article back in 2002 mentioned Cap'nBill's FIRECalc website. Went there, and discovered the Early Retirement forum too. I wonder how Dory36 is doing these days.
