Prague and Bamberg
Budapest!
And Prague......we've also heard that Krakow (which is on our list) is superb.
The National Park Rangers are advising hikers in Glacier National Park and other Rocky Mountain parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter.
They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance and not be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them. This might cause a bear to charge.
Visitors should also carry a pepper spray can just in case a bear is encountered. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear's sensitive nose and it will run away.
It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear scat so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat.
Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.
Planning a big Europe trip this summer with my wife. Have been to a few of the bigger cities, Paris, London etc. in the past but this time we're hoping to see some less 'touristy' destinations. Particularly eastern Europe. Does anyone have recommendations? We're just getting around to planning it now!
Just came back from Myanmar and Thailand. Here are the pictures from Myanmar.

After several failed attempts, being beaten to the punch by other tenants, we have finally secured a house to rent in England when we arrive early May. The application is signed and deposit paid into the realtor's bank. Now it is just proving income and credentials, and signing a lease agreement. All this should be easily possible via email. (We went through this process in 2011 when we rented a house for 7 months in the same town).
Good memory, yes this is our final relocation after that trial run. In the intervening years we have done a boat load of travel and have been getting our finances in order to minimize taxes once the move is completed. (UK taxation is quite different plus there is a UK/US taxation agreement to understand)Is this the final relocation or another practice run? (I enjoyed reading about your 2011 experience.)

This is a great mix of close to home and away from home.Your May trip would be my top choice except I'd probably swap out the Cali parks for Moab and Capital Reef.
Are you happy with just one week away in the winter? We are in central MN and need a longer break. We like to enjoy the nice weather in Spring and Summer and spend our travel money during the winter season.
We are headed to Clarksdale, MS this weekend. While not an exciting-sounding trip, it may turn out to be a different-kind-of-fun trip
Clarksdale is only a few hours from us. We are going because DH learned a musician he really[-] likes[/-]has a crush on will be at the Shack Up Inn.
Well, if you have any interest in real blues music, Clarksdale is the heart of it:

And who does your DH have the crush on?
Grace Askew. We have seen her three times in the last five years. I like her music/sound (she was on The Voice a couple years ago), but my admiration is much, much less involved than DH's. DH got his dad's attorney(Boston area) interested in Grace A; we plan to purchase that atty an autographed CD.

To be honest, we like blues but are not disciples. However, we have been Googling and reading and plan on visiting the museum. Learned a lot about Robert Johnson during the last few days - poisoned at age 27yo, it seems. It looks to be an educational couple days.
Yes, and if you read up a little more, I think it will add to your appreciation. I should go visit the museum myself, I could bore DW for hours on end with stories of these blues artists!
In fact, I think I will go listen to my Robert Johnson collection right now. I have the box set, every single song he ever recorded (then a few years later they claim to have found one more, but an alternate take of an existing song). But I love alternate takes - to me, that's where you really hear the musician at work, crafting the song (I love the alternate takes from the box set of Layla and other Love Songs)
Hmmm, IIRC, Crossroads Blues take 2 has more of the beat that Cream used, ...
"Come On in My Kitchen" - one of my favs,
"Terraplane Blues" - saw Steven Stills solo on this (AWESOME!) when he appeared with Crosby , Stills, and Nash - along with The Band.
"Love in Vain" - Rolling Stones covered this.
"Hellhound on My Trail", "If I Had Possession over Judgment Day" , and a few more are favs of mine.
But no, I'm not a disciple of The Blues
