car people - suggest a toy

 However, I'm sure my wimpy 707 HP will still out accelerate it.

I love the fact that we live in a world where I have to apologize for only having the 707 HP version of a car, instead of the Demon.

You need a Nimitz class carrier. I think the 2 nuclear reactors combined push over 276,000 HP :)

Those are pretty good, but they don't build 'em like they used to. My carrier had 8 reactors. Only thing I can tell you about the top speed is "in excess of 30 knots." You get a lot of miles out of a refueling too.

There is no such thing as to much power, IMO. My daily driver has over 700 Hp (Hellcat engine) and I need (well want) a lot more. When I first bought it, I thought it was awesome. Now, almost 18mos later, it's just "okay".

What's your 0-60 number?

If you could drop 500 lbs, I bet that would put a smile back on your face:LOL:

That much HP would just get me in trouble. No interest in racing. I can see an advantage with merging onto highways, etc, but I could also see getting tickets for wanting to play, and also just driving at an unsafe speed too often, especially windy mountain roads that I drive a lot. That's why I like my Miata. It feels fast, but really isn't, so I don't get myself into trouble. But it's not for everyone, and not for the OP. And those high HP cars are for some people. Enjoy them!

There is a saying , it is more fun to drive a slow car fast all the time rather then drive a fast car slow all the time . Just went through defensive driving for a speeding ticket . I was 15 over the speed limit in my Ridgeline. Good I didn't have a fast car .

For sure, it's a heavyweight for a high performance vehicle at ~5400lbs. Add a driver, spare tire, jack and the stuff I usually carry and that pushes it to over 5700 lbs.

If I'm trying for a quick timed run, (at the track of course:cool:) I don't unload anything. I even keep the spare tire and jack in the vehicle since I want it to be as close to normal driving conditions as possible. I will however try to make any serious timed run with just under 1/2 of gas. That saves me ~70lbs or so.

Nice 0-60 time. Just below the supercars times. I am only in low to mid 4's.

There's always something faster... Here's one of my favorite videos to prove the point. It was a one mile standing start race. The Vette (and it's a ZR1) had him until about 80mph or about 5 secs and then it was all over. Your tax dollars at work.

In the Appalachians on the way home:

Pretty car. Those older Porsches are lots of fun.

I'm just happy with my 2002 BMW (e46) convertible right now as around here it's just to crowded and congested to have anything more sporty.

Congrats on fulfilling your desired ride. Safe travels on the trip home.

I wish I could find a half decent MGB for a sensible price. Seems they are either completely shot or fully restored. Just want a reasonable driver. Not perfect just no rust would be great.
