Sharing 23 years of Frugal Retirement

I have only been around this forum for a short time, but enjoy reading your posts, it gives us hope for a frugal, yet rewarding future for those of us not rolling in dough.

I have also found that several forums I am on, are full of self centered divas, who really don't discuss issues back, and forth, they dominate threads, and smear those who disagree, luckily, this forum has alot of candor, and discussion without the negative.

We made our annual trip to Starved Rock State Park last week. Busy, busy, busy... we had to park a half mile away from the lodge. 7 busloads of kids.

That's a great place to go. We had a real nice visit 2 years ago. I think you present a good lesson here. Get out of the house! Keep active.

Congrats on 30 years. I just have 1 under my belt.

I guess my dad's estimate of his time on this earth was almost correct. I am very sorry to say that imoldernu passed last week from acute myeloid leukemia. He was only diagnosed 4 weeks ago. I knew of his interest for this website and the members here. I've also been on forums with active members who "suddenly" disappear. I didn't want his inactivity to be misunderstood.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts with him.

Thank you for letting us know. Your Dad wrote often about his beloved Jeanie and his sons. We valued his contributions, and I did "look" for his posts.

My condolences to your Mother, you, your brothers and your entire family. He will be missed.

So very sorry to hear this - my deepest condolences to you and your family. I very much enjoyed his posts on this site. Godspeed imoldernu - you will be missed.

Thank you so much for letting us know. My condolences to you and your family. He contributed a lot to this forum and will be missed. It seems from this side of the screen that he lead a very rewarding life. We should all be so blessed.

Thank you for letting everyone know, and please let Jeanie know she's in our thoughts.

We all enjoyed his posts and was just speaking about him in our FLA get together.
He will be missed.

He was a cherished member of this community. I am a wiser man because of his contributions.

My very best to Jeanie and the family.

Be thou at peace, sir.

Sad. A wonderful member who freely passed on his experiences. This thread that he lead was one of my favorite finds here. Bless you and your family.

My condolences as well, and thanks for letting us know. Wow, he was posting here just about 6 weeks ago.

I always enjoyed his posts, he sometimes went pretty far out, philosophizing on "The Debt" or world trade, or some big subject on morality or history. It was fun to read. And he brought a different perspective to the forum on a number of subjects.

His love of family and life always showed through. Even his virtual friends here will miss him.

Imnotoldernu, your dad was one of the "good guys" on this forum and his participation will be missed. Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know what happened and providing us with some closure. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

RIP...

If you've read all your dad's posts, you'll know the phrase "happy as clams" made a frequent appearance, along with enormous love and respect for Jeannie and the 4 sons. Your dad led a great life with a terrific philosophy from which everyone can learn. Condolences, and blessings to you.

Thank you so much letting us know. We had 14 members meet up in Sarasota, FL last weekend and his name came up... with fondness but also wondering why we hadn't heard from him for a while and wondering what happened to him.

Later, the conversation steered to screen names and how they have certain meanings and imoldernu came up again and there was one person there (I forget who) that had not "got it" yet and we had to spell it out for him.

imoldernu was one of a kind and will be missed. From what he wrote, he lived a good and full life.

I am sorry for you loss.

P.S. A lesson for the rest of us... add to your "When I am gone" document this site, your log in information and perhaps a goodbye message for someone to post so that the community can be informed.

That was me PB and that was after stating how I got your screen name in 2 seconds.

He also loved posting pictures of his beautiful grandchildren.

My sincere condolences. I certainly benefitted from his wisdom. He gave me the confidence to RE four years ago. His contributions to this forum will be missed.

So sorry for your loss. Please accept our condolences.

He was one of my favorite contributors on this forum. So much wisdom and experience to share, and he was willing to share freely.

He is already missed.

Your father was a wonderful, thoughtful contributor to this forum, and he will be missed.

We were lucky to have had his company.

My condolences.

I'd like to add my condolences. He was an interesting man, and seemed like a really nice guy.
