What's next for hoarding?

I still on't understand the drive to hoard TP.

After all, in all the residential bathrooms I've ever used, the toilet is right next to the bathtub...

I predict that, if this get longer and there is a true TP shortage, water guns will then be hoarded. If one does not have a bidet, a water gun is a potential alternative...

If things get as bad as some of the projections recently, you may want to start hoarding vegetable seeds and fertilizer for your victory garden.... :)
During the growing season, the young wife and I already grow more vegetables than we can eat. In fact, we still have some onions, shallots and sweet potatoes left from last year. We also home can a lot of our produce for use over the winter.

I've discovered that if I go early enough to Walmart, they have some TP, one package to a customer. Although I saw four men in landscaper's jumpsuits coming out of my Walmart, each with a cart containing two packages of TP - two different brands. Guess they were allowed to interpret the rules liberally.

Could have been a maintenance worker for a nursing home or something. Also might have been buying for elderly neighbors, or several families, or whatever.

I can only hope that they interpret the rules liberally in cases like that.

I'm trying not to assume everyone doing something like that is a Covidiot (new word.) I'm probably wrong more often than right, but I'm trying to be positive.

Line was too long at the community garden seed window so I skipped. Went to 'senior hour' at the big box shopper. Of course TP, Bread and cleaner shelves were pretty bare.

Stocked up on M&M's Peanut and microwave popcorn for self quarantine.

heh heh heh - already have frozen bags of the holy trinity(celery, onions, bell pepper) and plenty of spices for red beans and rice, etc. DW's Netflix and Amazon Prime are ready for binge watching. ;)

I'm planning to sign up for the free month of Amazon Prime to binge watch everything I want, then cancel before the first bill arrives.

Why stop there? I think every streaming service offers a free trial of at least a week. You can probably get at least 6 more free weeks between Hulu, Philo, YouTubeTV, Sling, etc.

One word of caution: There is a fine line between frugal and cheap. :D

Around here what is being hoarded is liquor. The idiot mayor of Denver declared that as of 5 PM tomorrow all liquor stores would close at 5PM tomorrow and not reopen until mid April. After realizing that he had created an indoor riot at every booze shop for 50 miles around, this retard tried to walk it back by saying that stores that could accommodate "extreme social distancing" could stay open.

Any village need an idiot? Only slightly used...

Thanks, but we have more than our fair share in the villages of California.

It’s like prohibition all over again. And we all know that people did not stop drinking during prohibition, so they certainly won’t stop drinking now!

Buddy of mine in Kansas started his still up. I know it's serious now.

Holy cow, I could so be the king of the local black market on all kinds of things now: beer and mead, ammunition, gunowder, hand sanitizer...

That started a panic all over the state. Local businesses were swamped because of the panic. People are already on edge; adding more shortages isn't going to help.

I was at the local King Super at 7:15 for senior hour. I was like a bad movie shot in a senior center. I'm not sure when sweet granny turned batchit crazy but it's not fun to be around.

I think some of the measures, that may be good ideas are not currently successful because of panicking.

Why the idiot voters of Denver keep re-electing this dope I will never understand. My sister called me in a panic asking where she could possibly buy beer without fighting a crowd. I told her order if you like, but I could probably supply you for a few weeks.

Don't get it though: I told her and every family member 6 weeks ago to stock up on everything.

Can't you get alcohol delivered in Colorado? We just joined a wine club with discounted prices. We don't drink much, and an occasional delivery fills our needs. No need to go to a store.

Yup, the neo-prohibitionists are out in force. Can't let a crisis go to waste. PA shut down their state-run liquor stores (they're state employees so will get paid on the backs of laid-off taxpayers I guess). In the poor coal country town where my relatives live they are boarding up the windows of the closed State Stores. Brilliant!

MD just ordered shutdown of non-essential businesses, but liquor stores are listed as essential. Note we don't have alcohol in supermarkets here.

I am a homebrewer of over 25 years and a beekeeper/meadmaker. If I wanted to ramp up production and my customers were not too picky, I could likely pickle the whole neighborhood in short order. So I cut out the middleman. The liquor store is for whiskey, but only because running a still isn't legal.

About 75% the world still uses a water bucket and use one hand for wiping, the other for eating.

hand sanitizer you say....

how much for a look at the bottle?

Don't know we don't drink anymore. I've received 91% rubbing alcohol before Coronavirus, now I can't afford it.

Alcohol, everclear, is gone as is rubbing alcohol. I don't use much, but it's the only way to clean my vape.

The next thing going is hair cutting equipment. It's mostly gone now, at least the inexpensive stuff seems to be.

I saw this in a local FB post. I think a new homeschooling parent is done.[emoji846]

"I give up drinking for a month."

No that's wrong

"I give up, drinking for a month".

I was thinking the same thing. I actually ordered these from Amazon today, and I can’t believe I was willing to spend $55 on hand sanitizer but it’s the first time they have had anything in stock for the past month, so I ordered it. And even though it’s in stock I’m still being quoted an April 22 delivery date.

Our pols are smarter. The governor's order shutting down all but essential businesses specifically includes liquor stores as essential businesses, so they can stay open.
